Bethune’s Gully

It’s no secret that Bethune’s Gully is a favourite spot for locals. Open grassy fields centre themselves amongst an almost undisturbed primary forest. The flowing waters of Lindsay Creek and native birdlife resonate through the area.

The recreational area in Bethune’s Gully is a perfect destination for a picnic. There are barbeques, tables and a playground available for the public to use. The large open spaces are perfect for dogs, provided they are kept in sight and under control.

There are a number of walking tracks in the area, including the start of the popular Mount Cargill Walk. The tracks are very well maintained, feature bridges over streams, and begin with an easy stroll through the forest. Mountain biking enthusiasts frequent the area for the extensive trails provided.

For those looking to explore more of the area, the nearby Signal Hill lookout offers excellent views of the city skyline.

To get there, travel along North Road towards Normanby. Turn left down Norwood Street and continue until you reach the signed entrance on your left. Plenty of car parks are available, and the bus services operate within walking distance.
